The Manual is a great book! It takes the general basics spelled out in The Successful Homeschool Family Handbook, and gives you the "nuts and bolts" to really apply it in your own home. It is divided into sections based on grade levels and ages, and there is also a great section on unit studies, how to put them together, expand them, make them work for you. There are charts that you can use to organize your daily schedule, blank forms for reports and grades, and even a great form for making sure all subjects are covered in your unit studies. You can use this one book to create your curriculum year after year after year, just adding in activities and books from the library as you need them. The high school section is great too, because it helps a parent make sure all the areas are covered for creating a transcript for college applications. It is probably hard to find a used one, since few people ever want to let go of it after they get it. Also, a revised version, that is spiral bound instead of a 3-ring binder is either just released or about to be released by the Moore Foundation. Reading through the overviews and discussions here though, would give you a great idea about how to get started, and might even be enough to answer your questions. In Christ,

I am relatively new to the Moore Formula method. I have read several of the books, but want to find out more information about the manual and possibly getting a used one. |
